Cornwall New Energy hosting series of Workshops in 2019

Following the success of electric vehicle seminar in November 2018, CNE is organising a series of workshops to assist SMEs in reducing their reliance on fossil fuels. These workshops are designed to connect SMEs with renewable energy installers, suppliers and other industry experts. They will provide opportunities to ask questions and start discussions around installation of renewable technologies.

Workshop schedule:

Wednesday 16th January: 'Ground Source Heat Pumps and funding heat networks' with Kensa Heat Pumps and CommunityEnergy Plus

This seminar is aimed at businesses interested in ground source heat pumps as low carbon heating technology. Kensa manufacture award winning ground source heat pumps right here in Cornwall and we have invited George Gillow, Business Development Manager, to come and present some case studies to us in Truro. Heat pumps will continue to offer a revenue via the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in 2019, as well as financial savings on energy bills. Neil Farrington from Community Energy Plus (CEP) will be joining us to discuss how CEP can help fund this technology.

Location: The Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, Truro

Time: 9:30 - 14:00

Wednesday 30th January: 'Energy storage as a commercial model' with Andrew Shaw (Shaw Electric) and Russell Bulley from Vertiv, and Centrica talking about the Local Energy Market

Energy storage offers an opportunity for plenty of debate around its financial viability and operational efficiency, so we expect plenty of questions! Shaw Electric and Vertiv have been in the business for over 10 years and are going to present some examples of how energy storage can represent a commercial opportunity. We also expect Centrica’s Local Energy Market to run the third session discussing the concept of distributed flex such as storage and demand side response (DSR) and how the future of energy markets is shaping up to reduce pressure on the electricity supply system. This presentation will outline the role of the Cornwall LEM – a current project developing new ideas in energy supply.
